Most times I see Central American Cichlids in a tank that is too small or too over populated. Central's are big fish, they need really big tanks. Aggression can be a problem if the tank is too small.
Your starting point for keeping Central American Cichlids should be a 75 gallon tank, don't go any smaller then that.
Some people think overcrowing Cichlids keep aggression at bay but this only works for Africans. You will have one huge mess on your hand with huge fish cramped in a tank.
Remember you are keeping beasts here. They need room to swim and heavy filtration.
