Adjustment

Picture
When you first get a cichlid they may hide, they may not eat, they may skittish and you may think they are sick. Oscars even lay on their side playing dead when they are not dead.

It takes time for them to adjust to a new setting. Blood Parrots take a very long time to adjust, they are very skittish.

You have to have slow movements around the tank, no bashing, crashing, tapping on the glass. This will only scare them. Give them a few days.

They may come out to explore but as soon as they see motion they will hide, this is normal and will fade. Soon they will be doing "The Happy Dance" for food.

Some cichlids take a long time to adjust and some right away, depending on their personality. But it's best to feed them and not disturb them for a week.

Soon they will be out and about investigating their new tank. You just need patience!
